With almost 106 thousand hectares, the Serra da Bocaina National Park is one of the largest protected areas of the Atlantic Forest biome. It is located in a section of the Serra do Mar, between the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Since it extends from sea level to high elevations, the Serra da Bocaina has various landscapes and a rich biodiversity. In the upper part of the Park, its montane forests with the presence of araucaria trees (Araucaria angustifolia) creates a phytophysiognomy known as "Araucaria moist forests", where some emblematic species of this environment can be found, highlighting the Araucaria Spinetail and the Black-capped Piprites, among other treasures.
