Observação de aves na APA de Guapimirim
Birding at APA Guapimirim mangroves (Boat trip) and surroundings

The rivers that rise in the Serra dos Órgãos mountains flow into a vast area of wetlands, swamps, and mangroves in the inner reaches of Guanabara Bay, making it a rewarding destination for visitors. This area is protected by two conservation units: the APA Guapimirim (managed by ICMBio) and the Estação Ecológica da Guanabara. Community-based tourism has been growing in the area, helping to protect the environment while also providing local residents with an additional source of income, mainly through fishing and birdwatching activities. During our boat trips through the mangroves and rivers of APA Guapimirim, we are conducted by the area’s most experienced boatmen, who have extensive knowledge and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors.
